My Thoughts - Change, Resiliency, & a growth mindset
Experiencing a layoff can be a difficult time for everyone involved, including the employees who remain with the company. There are so many questions;
What can I control in this uncertainty? What is my new purpose? How can I create alignment & set expectations for myself and my team? And possibly; how do I realign on a new future focus?
Stay positive: After a layoff, it's natural to feel demotivated and uncertain about the future. However, it's important to stay positive and focused on your work. Remember you have an opportunity to contribute to the company's success and to your career development.
Focus on your skills: With the loss of colleagues, you may have additional responsibilities and work to take on. Take this as an opportunity to develop new skills and show your value to the company.
Find alignment: Keep yourself informed about the changes that are happening within the company. Attend meetings, read updates, and ask questions. It's important to maintain open communication with your manager after a layoff. Talk to them about any concerns you may have and ask for feedback on your work. This will help you stay on track and ensure that your work is aligned with the company's goals.
Take care of yourself: Layoffs can be stressful and can take a toll on your mental health. Survivor guilt is a main factor in this stress. Make sure to take care of yourself by getting enough rest, exercise, and spending time with loved ones. Don't hesitate to seek support if you need it.
Remember that staying after a layoff can be a challenging time, but it can also be an opportunity for growth and development. Stay positive, stay informed, and focus on your work to ensure the success of the company and your own personal success.
