Finding Your Social Media Voice: Lessons From My Journey

Hey Trailblazers,

l Recently, I had the pleasure of joining Brett Ingram on his podcast, "optYOUmize,"

where we dove deep into the art of building a social media following and navigating the inevitable challenges that accompany it.

I wanted to share some key insights from our conversation and a few personal stories that I think you'll find valuable.

Growing up, my mom was my biggest inspiration.

She was a fighter, living her entire life with just one lung despite doctors' grim predictions.

Her resilience and determination have always motivated me to push through obstacles and share my own story.

When she passed, I felt a compelling need to share her journey, which in turn encouraged me to start sharing my own.

This was a turning point in my life, leading me to realize the power of personal storytelling.

One of the most pivotal moments in my life was a wrongful arrest when I was twelve.

I remember going through the court process and realizing the importance of standing up for what’s right.

Even at that young age, I chose to focus on the lessons learned rather than seeking financial compensation.

This experience taught me the value of resilience and the importance of learning from every situation, a mindset that has been instrumental in my career.

Transitioning from a traditional career in property management to founding Blaze Your Own Trail Consulting wasn't a walk in the park.

It was a journey filled with uncertainty and challenges.

I recall a time in 2005 when my wife and I were living in her grandmother's double-wide trailer, trying to make ends meet.

It was during this period that I reconnected with my dad, who taught me invaluable lessons about hard work and grit.

These experiences have shaped my approach to business and life.

When it comes to building a social media following, my advice is to invest in yourself.

Understand your strengths and leverage them.

If you're just starting out, find a mentor or coach who has been through the journey and can guide you.
