Finding your sacred and holy place

I have recently rediscovered the joy of spending time in the holy and sacred confines of Sacred Heart Church in Calgary.
I think we all need to have a special place like that in our lives - a place we can go to for solitude, quiet and contemplation. A place where we can connect with the supernatural.
Sacred Heart is one of those places for me.
The church, located on 14th Street S.W. near 17th Avenue, is one of the most spiritual locales in the city.
This is not a knock against new and modern churches but I am one who loves tradition. The old-style church like Sacred Heart just puts me immediately into a spiritual frame of mind the moment I walk inside.
Candles, icons, statues, old pews, dim lighting, marble, stained glass, a golden tabernacle that is prominently placed in the church, an impressive altar that focuses your attention.
All of these touch your senses and reach your soul.
We all need to find places that do that, especially in these trying times.
