In this episode, we talked about not being the stereotypical leader, fighting ignorance, being appreciative of small wins, and much more.?
“So being a leader, I've never really thought of myself as a leader. Maybe because I compartmentalize in a way. It's like, you have to be in specific places to be a leader. But yeah, maybe it's a very stereotypical way of thinking.”
Key Takeaways
“From a financial perspective, it was hell. Because we started a blog as a hobby, right? So it was just something that we did on the side, it was fun, reaching out to fans, so on and so forth. But as time went on, we realized that this is going to be something lucrative, we've got a massive fan base, we had a million unique visits in under a year, and we were just reaching a totally different demographic than we expected. And so it was like, what do we do next?...”
“But when things aren't going your way, and you can't control them or compartmentalize them more, it's hard to give equal structure or level of like priority to them. It really takes its toll on us, it's extremely difficult. And I wouldn't wish it on anybody. I'm sure a lot of people have come through anyway, but when I'm not sure about anybody it is tough. So that was a weird period of my life where I knew what I wanted to do. But I didn't know how to control it. I guess that will kind of control the destiny away because you know, certain things are out of your hands…”

?“I've always been a quiet person. I think when you are introverted, when you're quiet, you observe more. And so I like to learn more than to be the face and in front of things…So anything to do with like, being loud and center of attention or even going to go and as far as like having meetings with people just for the sake of having me it's like I don't like to I like things that feel that have a little bit more structural like, are a bit more compartmentalized or deal with action rather than anything else…”
“I think it just relates a lot to me, is being able to set an example, or a legacy for the next generation. Okay, I do like companies and brands where I am the leader or a co-founder of it. But I think I've always been better as a leader or somebody who sets a task on a goal and goals for it. And then somebody else sees that, and they're inspired by it. So I think my form of leadership is kind of like setting an example and a legacy and being pioneering in some way, shape or form right now.”
This podcast session with Leon is a very calming and insightful one I’d 100% recommend for all creative introverts.
