Finding your ideal client is like looking for a new bestie

Finding your ideal client is like looking for a new bestie

Struggling to figure out who your ideal client is?

I’m one of those people who chats with other people wherever I go.

I love to hear other people’s stories and I'm shameless enough to start up conversations with total strangers all the time.

My ex-husband always teased me before we went on holiday by asking “I wonder how many new friends you’ll come back with?”

And I ALWAYS came back with new friends.

As a matter of fact, I met one of my sisters-from-another-mister while on holiday.

It’s easy for us to recognise people we want to be friends with, isn't it?

We know what we bring to the table when it comes to friendship.

And we know EXACTLY what we like in our friends.

We know what similar interests we want our friends to have so we can enjoy spending time with them.

We know the values we expect from the people we let into our lives.

We know the type of person we like to have as friends – their sense of humour, their personality, what their dreams are.

And we know the type of people who will want to have us as friends.

When you start thinking about who you’re marketing your services to, think about how well you know your friends.

Everything you know about them, you need to know about your ideal client.

Think of it this way:

Imagine yourself walking into a party where you don’t know anyone.

Think about the people you would want to talk to in order to enjoy yourself.

How you would recognise them? Are they the quiet ones standing on the edges of the crowd or the ones in the middle of all the action? Are they having quiet, thoughtful conversations or are they and everyone they're talking to animated and laughing?

And then think about how you need to show up and what you need to say to make them want to talk to you.

It’s easy to get all tied up in knots when it comes to figuring out our ideal client. So, if you’re struggling with this work right now, take a little pressure off.

Think about making a new friend and here are a few areas to focus on:

? Sharing Common Vibes:

Think about how you connect with friends who share your interests, values, and passions. Similarly, your ideal clients are the ones who resonate deeply with what you offer. Just as you're drawn to friends who "get" you, your business's soulmate clients understand and appreciate your unique value.

? The "Aha!" Moment:

Meeting a new friend often brings that "aha!" moment when you realize, "Hey, we totally vibe." Likewise, attracting your ideal clients involves them experiencing that same moment of recognition. They see your content, your offerings, and think, "This is exactly what I've been looking for!"

? A Two-Way Street:

Friendships thrive on mutual understanding and shared experiences. Similarly, your relationship with ideal clients is a two-way street. You're not just providing a service; you're creating a connection that's built on trust, empathy, and the genuine desire to make their lives better.

? Authentic Conversations:

Remember those heart-to-heart chats with friends where you share dreams, fears, and laughs? That authenticity is what draws people to you. When you truly know your ideal clients, you can engage in conversations that resonate on a personal level, just like between friends.

? The Recognizable Spark:

Ever spot a friend in a crowd because you recognize their unique style or smile? Your ideal clients should have the same experience when they come across your brand. Your messaging, visuals, and tone should create that "I've found my people!" moment for them.

? Nurturing the Bond:

Just as friendships grow stronger with time, your relationship with ideal clients deepens through consistent engagement. Offer value, support, and guidance to show that you're invested in their success, just like you'd do for a friend.
