Finding your flow

Flow is a simple concept describing moments when you are completely absorbed in a challenging yet doable task.

If you've heard someone describe a time when their performance excelled, and they were "in the zone," they were likely describing an experience of flow, when the skill level and the challenge at hand are equally matched.

You also recognize it by time slowing down or speeding up, being intrinsically rewarded, an almost effortless task, and feeling complete and absolute control over the job.

This is not to say that you only stick to things that come easy to you, but when you do something that interests you, your capacity for learning, engagement, and productivity skyrockets. That's why be it a struggling kid or a team member, direct them to tasks that interest them and that they are passionate about and maximize their capacity to exercise them, and you'll be duly rewarded.

Like putting on your mask before helping others, start with you.
