Jason, I completely agree with your perspective on the importance of emotional intelligence in leadership. I believe that emotional intelligence is really the what but emotional mastery is the how. As a organizational psychologist, I have seen firsthand how leaders understand emotional intelligence but still struggle with mastering their emotions. this leads them to look at others as needing to have greater emotional intelligence. The key is to become able to distinguish between emotion and behavior, identify emotions when triggered and be curious about how you can help others when they are triggered. Those who demonstrate emotional mastery are able to effectively navigate complex situations and build strong relationships with their teams. It's crucial for leaders to understand and share their own emotions, as well as empathize with and respond to the emotions of others. Thanks for highlighting this important topic!
