Seven Swiss francs and five minutes later, we were laughing and sharing hot, crispy fries that could have come straight from McDonald's. It's these surprising little discoveries that often become favorite travel stories.

By the end of our time in Zermatt, we had already decided this was where we wanted to retire – little did we know this would become a running joke throughout our journey! ??

When I approached the hotel's front desk to ask about funicular tickets, the friendly clerk assured me they were complimentary and added, "Don't worry about the fog in town - it's just the Maloja Snake, the views are completely clear at the top!"

I also picked up two more as gifts - after all, how often can you say your Swiss Army knife came from the highest Swiss Army knife shop in the world?
