If you’re asking yourself if you have balance between your work life and home life, you probably don’t have it. Many people are searching for this equilibrium so they can be completely present with their partner and family when work hours are over and also give their best during their workday.
However, many people report feeling stressed and exhausted with a lack of balance. Is owning a franchise business the solution when you become your own boss?
A Mental Health America study found that workplace burnout has a negative impact on people’s physical and mental health, and can lead to financial strain as people try to solve these issues. A Hubstaff 2024 survey reports that, “60% of U.S. workers say they don’t have boundaries between work responsibilities and life.” Additionally, “72% believe a healthy work-life balance is crucial,” and “78% of women say this balance is essential to career choices, compared to 67% of men.” What creates this desirable balance? Well, one survey found that 79% of respondents said they need flexibility to achieve a better balance between work and home.
Achieve Your Work-Life Balance Goals
These goals are proving to be achievable for Sticky Fingers Cooking? franchise owners who share how becoming business owners has allowed them the freedom to stop juggling and simply prioritize.
“I don’t log on until after my kids are at school and I’ve spent some time with them because that’s super important to me as a mom,” says Alli Doyle, franchise owner of Sticky Fingers Cooking in Austin, Texas. “Once I do log on for the day, I check emails and I just get a good picture of what the goals are for the week and the day.”

Lucy Warenski, franchise owner of Sticky Fingers Cooking in Chicago, has a large team to manage with over 50 chef instructors teaching in about 100 schools.
“It’s a lot, a lot of multitasking,” Lucy says. “I’m a mom and so I do not log on to my computer until my kids are on the bus and then I just go with the flow of the day. I have my goals for the day, the week. So all my really hard tasks are done when the boys are at school and then when they do come home, if I still have a little bit left to do, what this job has offered is the flexibility of being a mom and having wonderful goals and having a thriving successful business and I’m able to do both.”
