Finding Wisdom in a Crazy World. What's Wisdom?

Finding Wisdom in a Crazy World. What's Wisdom?

Wisdom will Guide us Through This Crazy World

Last week I shared my response to a survey by Men’s Health where 64% of the respondents said this past year has been nuts.

My suggestion was to pause and take a little time for some soul care.

This week I’m going to go a little deeper on this ideawith a different way to pause.

What's Wisdom?

Ever heard of King Solomon? I include this quote in the opening of my book The Next Level Entrepreneur: Focus your Passions ? Map your Direction ? Build a Great Company.

“Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures.”

What is wisdom? I used to ask this all the time.

A while back a sage in my life boiled it down to this: “Wisdom is common sense”.

So to find wisdom and understanding, a great question to ask is:

Does ‘this’ make sense?

In my bookThe Next Level Entrepreneur Mr. A gives this advice to Max.

Dear Max:

Your authenticity and passion serve you well. However, tuning your ear to wisdom will serve you even better.

Early on in my life I did act prematurely by “firing” first without “aiming”.

My impetuousness created almost insurmountable obstacles.

Your observation that many fire and miss in search of their target is spot on.

Thus, your willingness to pause and follow this process is a testament to your character and wisdom.

Pausing to Map Your Steps is Wisdom

The strategic process to which Mr. A is referring is TheNext Level Navigator which is in my book.

secret to this process(and a great challenge) is that you must slow downat the beginning to achieve greater resultsin the future.

Pausing to map your steps is wisdom.

Now, I understand that telling an entrepreneur to slow down is like telling a fish to breathe air! But, you must, at least a little.

Slowing down can feel impossibleand maybe even deadly to your endeavor.

But I encourage you tolearn to slow down, pause, just long enough to focus your passions and map your direction so that you can build something great through the work you do. Otherwise you will just be reacting, not creating

Pausing is wisdom.

Mr. A describes to Max how his impetuousness would get him into trouble. He describes how if he had only paused to think about what he was doing, he could have avoided a lot of pain and suffering.

So this week try this experiment: pause and ask yourself this question in regards to the various stuff you are facing.

Does ‘this’ make sense?

And just see what bubbles up. What occurs to you? How does it guide you? What understanding and insight did you receive?

In fact, take lots of little pauses throughout the day and keep asking that question.

I’d love to hear how it goes for you. Please tell us all about it in the comments. We welcome your questions too! (And we’ll answer them.)

Hope this all makes sense! : ) Thanks!
