Finding a trustworthy coach can be difficult

I’ve recently learned just why coaches aren’t really trusted. I’ve been a coach for 14 years, one who has had many coaches myself throughout my career to take me to the next level.
Yet, I’ve experienced a lot of mistimed, misaligned pitches and dishonest communication to get me into chatting with them.
It left me feeling like my time had been wasted. I was immediately put on the back foot when I was pitched after being led to believe that they genuinely wanted to chat with me.
Many of the communications were built upon creating the illusion that they were interested in paying for MY services...then BOOM - THEY pitch to THEIR services to me!
But here’s the thing.
I totally get why people are doing this. People learn all kinds of things from ‘gurus’ online, and many coaches and business people are just starting out and need to learn what is ethical practise - especially in the current climate where mental health is so very important.
Building an ethical and powerful coaching practice requires TRUST.
My clients pay me well and get great results because we are working together with healthy boundaries and open communication.
Leaving your client feeling vulnerable or pitching them through tears IS not ethical or trauma informed practise.
I’ve worked with a lot of clients who have come to me after having a poor experience with coaches, who have then gone on to feel powerful and confident in their abilities; impacting their business, income, their health AND relationships.
A good strategy for finding your perfect coach
??You have felt connected to their posts, tried some of their suggestions and got good results.

??You feel like when they are posting, they are writing for you.
??They have overcome the challenges you are facing and are transparent about the challenges they have faced.
??They have great testimonials. Even better if you know people that have worked with them.
??They will make you feel at ease and heard in your initial consultation. If they miss cues and push you through your discomfort, that will not make for a healthy coaching experience.
??Don’t ignore red flags ??. If it doesn’t feel right, then trust your gut.
??It doesn’t matter how popular they are or how many testimonials they have - if you desire to improve your confidence and results, the first thing you need to do is get better at trusting your own inner guidance.
??Learn the difference between it not feeling right because you’re getting a bad vibe and it not feeling right because you’re scared. How often do you tune in to your gut instinct? Do you need to do it more?
??Get really clear on what you are looking for from a coach. Like any relationship, for it to work there needs to be alignment and rapport. There is something out there for everyone, if you get clear on what you are really looking for, you can feel empowered in knowing you’ll choose the right one.
Speaking of which, I have a Clarity Call booking that can help you to get clear on your desires before hopping into long term coaching relationships. Please DM me for more info.

2 年If you are being pitched through tears, or they aren’t reading you well enough to know when to give you space (personal and client experience) do not gaslight yourself into thinking you’re too sensitive. You aren’t. Boundaries and energetics are important. VERY important.
