Finding Strength in Kindness

Finding Strength in Kindness

Life is often filled with battles of the heart. Times of doubt, fear, and sorrow can make us feel vulnerable, lost, and alone. In these moments, the heartfelt melodies and profound truths found in songs, like "Jesus, Strong and Kind," by CityAlight, serve as gentle reminders of the compassionate embrace of Jesus. As we explore the profound comfort of knowing a Savior who is both mightily strong and tenderly kind, let me share a piece of my journey with you.

Devotional: "I have sinned much," is a phrase that has often echoed in my heart. I've wronged my family, betrayed friends, and stumbled in countless painful ways. Each misstep felt like a weight, each regret like a chain. The path has been tough for me. And, yes, I consistently still fall. Yet, with each new day, I try, step by step, to move forward. Not by my strength, but with the strength I find in Jesus.

The opening lines of the song beckon us, "If I want to follow Jesus, I must know what lies ahead." It's an invitation to take a journey, a journey with someone who knows our deepest fears and greatest hopes. Yet, when the weight of the world becomes overwhelming, when our hearts become weary, and when the storms of life seem relentless, it's easy to ask, "Is there someone who truly understands?"

In those depths of despair and moments of doubt, the song's chorus echoes a timeless truth: "Jesus is stronger, Jesus is kinder." It's a beautiful paradox – how strength and kindness coexist in the character of Jesus. For in Him, I've found the redemption I so desperately sought. In His embrace, my past sins don't define me; His grace does.

Imagine the raw emotions of the woman caught in adultery (John 8:1-11). As fingers pointed and voices accused, she lay vulnerable and exposed. It was Jesus' strong defense paired with his kind words, "Neither do I condemn you...Go now and leave your life of sin," that transformed her world.

"Jesus, Strong and Kind" is more than just a song; it's a heart's reflection on the tender intersections of our vulnerabilities with the strength and kindness of Jesus. It's a gentle reminder that we never walk alone, that in our weakest moments, there's a hand to hold, a strength to rely on, and a kindness that envelops us.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, in the intricacies of our emotions and the fragility of our hearts, You remain our constant. Your strength is unmatched, and Your kindness is beyond comprehension. In our moments of despair, doubts, and regrets, help us to always turn to You. Let our hearts forever sing of Your strength and kindness, knowing that You are always by our side. Amen.
