Finding The Right Fit // Alex Fahie

Finding the right fit is as essential for aspiring princesses, new trousers, friendships (and more), employees/employers and of course for charities seeking volunteers and volunteers seeking volunteering opportunities. So why, (when 77% of people say they want to volunteer), do charities often struggle to find the volunteer they need - and vice versa.
Continuing on my Disney inspired themes I want to focus this article on the benefits of finding the right fit and what better story to draw inspiration from then Cinderella and her glass slipper.
Cinderella's aspirations for marrying the prince - and living happily ever after - would never have come about if it wasn't for the opportunity she had to find her fit. The glass slipper epitomises, though in an outdated fashion, the opportunities for happiness that are open to all of us.
Fortunately, both the dreams of female Disney characters and the opportunity for finding the right fit have evolved.
Platforms exist in every sector to make finding the right fit quicker and simpler - the hope of course is that you consequently purchase the product or service which is presented to you - as an individual.
But what happens if we take the same mechanism and apply it to volunteering? What happens if we provide a platform that helps charities ask for specific needs which are then automatically presented to willing volunteers?
"Ethical Angel offers the prospect of matching expertise with a host of challenges, large and small, which charities like the NSPCC welcome specific assistance with. Through matching clear descriptions of what we seek with quality assured expressions of skill and interest, together we can do more." Peter Wanless, CEO NSPCC
At Ethical Angel - that is exactly what we have engineered. We treat volunteers as individuals - showcasing opportunities to help society based on their personal skill sets and interests. Personally, it is my favourite module on our platform.
We have also included the opportunity for businesses to prioritise which United Nations - Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, that their employees see. Helping to build momentum behind those goals that those businesses expressly support.
So - we believe that it has never been easier to find your right volunteering fit - and maybe, like Cinderella live happily ever after...
