Finding Rex: Aurex Constructors and The WildLife Act join forces to preserve the life of African Dogs

In our ongoing commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Aurex Constructors is in collaboration with The Wildlife ACT , an organisation dedicated to the preservation and protection of endangered animals. This partnership reflects our deep-seated values and commitment to making a positive impact on the environment and the communities that we serve.

South Africa is home to fewer than 650 Wild dogs. The surveillance and protection of endangered species is critical to their preservation and ultimate survival. Recognising the urgency of this cause, Aurex Constructors embarked on a three-day journey with The Wildlife Act in October 2023.

Our mission was to find and track an African Wild dog. On the first day of our expedition, we encountered a diverse range of wildlife, experiencing firsthand the rich biodiversity that exists within Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve. As the journey continued, we actively participated in initiating the call to the wild dog pack. Late in the afternoon of the second day, our team saw a pack of? African wild dogs in the distance, highlighting the significance of our presence in their natural habitat.

It was only on the third day of the journey that we got close enough to the wild dogs and were able to participate in the application of a tracking collar. This collaborative effort enables The Wildlife Act team to continuously monitor the pack. Tracking collars play a vital role in ensuring the survival of the species, specifically where members of the pack become injured, ill, where poaching is a threat or members of the pack escape from reserves.
