Finding and reviewing topics

Finding and reviewing topics

Where do you find a topic for an investigative story? And how do you know if it's a good topic?

Students and reporters often struggle to find suitable topics and lecturers and editors often lack the time to assess these topics rigorously. As a result high-profile investigations start sometimes with subjects that are too obvious, too vague, too wide-ranging or too demanding. That's why we've created a short handout "Reviewing topics" with questions that can help you to determine whether a subject has a chance of success.

Please let us know if you can think of more or better questions.
