Finding Peace Admist the Election: A 7-Day Journey to Manage Stress
In a world filled with uncertainty and anxiety, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Recently, I heard conversations filled with fear—one person worried about the world ending if a particular candidate won, while another expressed hope for a different outcome. This climate of anxiety can be all-consuming, but as we turn to our faith, we are reminded of a powerful truth: “Be anxious for nothing…” (Philippians 4:6).
As we navigate these challenging times, I want to share a simple 7-day guide to help manage stress and find peace. Let’s take this journey together!
Day 1: Acknowledge Your Feelings
Recognize that it’s okay to feel anxious. Acknowledging our emotions is the first step toward managing them.
Scripture to Reflect On: "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7)
Day 2: Start with Breathing
Begin your day with a deep breathing exercise. Find a quiet space, close your eyes, and take a deep breath in for four counts, hold for four, and exhale for four. Repeat this for five minutes to calm your mind.
Scripture to Reflect On: "The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me." (Psalm 28:7)
Day 3: Limit Information Overload
Take a break from news and social media. Set specific times to check updates and use this time to connect with loved ones or dive into a hobby.
Scripture to Reflect On: "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:7)
Day 4: Practice Gratitude
Start a gratitude journal by writing down three things you’re thankful for each day. Focusing on the positives can significantly shift your perspective.
Scripture to Reflect On: "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
Day 5: Embrace Mindfulness
Dedicate time to mindfulness or meditation. Try a guided meditation or simply sit in silence, focusing on your breath and letting go of racing thoughts.
Scripture to Reflect On: "Be still, and know that I am God." (Psalm 46:10)
Day 6: Connect with Nature
Spend time outdoors—whether it’s a walk in the park or a moment in your garden. Nature can help ground your thoughts and provide a fresh perspective.
Scripture to Reflect On: "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities… have been clearly seen." (Romans 1:20)
Day 7: Reflect and Renew
As the week wraps up, take time to reflect on your journey. Consider the practices that have brought you peace and renew your commitment to your well-being.
Scripture to Reflect On: "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself." (Matthew 6:34)
Embracing Calm Together
In these uncertain times, let’s prioritize our mental health and nurture our spirits. By embracing this 7-day journey and leaning into scripture, we can find tranquility amidst the chaos.
Remember, "Be anxious for nothing," and trust the process. Let’s navigate these challenges together, leaning on our faith and supporting one another along the way.

4 周Very thoughtful as always! I find that yoga and volunteering (I realize not everyone has time for this) have been helping me. We know the assignment, let’s make the next 7 days count.
