Finding Passion and Purpose in the Event Industry

Tuesday Thoughts: Finding Fulfillment in What You Do

I recently read a quote that said, "Find something you love to do and then find out how to make money at it." It really struck a chord with me because that’s exactly what I’ve done. My wife has often said that I'm one of the rare people who genuinely love going to work every day, and she's right. I absolutely love what I do, and more importantly, I love who I do it for.

Being part of the event industry is more than just a job for me; it's a source of immense joy and fulfillment. There's something truly special about creating spaces where people's most cherished memories unfold. Whether it's a wedding, a community event, or a corporate gathering, every tent and structure we build becomes a vessel that holds these precious moments. It's incredibly gratifying to know that my work plays a role in making people's dreams come true.

But I understand that I'm just one piece of the puzzle. And that's what makes it all the more rewarding—knowing that my contribution, no matter how small, is part of a larger picture that brings joy and connection to others. It’s not just about setting up tents; it’s about setting the stage for moments of laughter, love, and celebration. That’s why I approach each project with dedication and passion, treating every task as an opportunity to create something meaningful.

So, my Tuesday thought for you is this: Don’t just find a job—find your passion. Find something that excites you, something that fills you with purpose, and then pursue it with everything you've got. When you truly love what you do, work stops being a chore and becomes a journey of endless possibilities and fulfillment. That’s where you’ll find not just success, but the magic of making a real difference in the lives of others.

Darrel, I concur. I have been in this industry virtually my entire life. Working/playing in a family business since the age of 4. I took a short hiatus from this industry and entered the financial world with The Principle Financial Group. The money was great and the work was easy for me, but my heart has always been in this industry, hence my return and continued support of some of the most industrious people that walk the earth. Growing up it almost felt like a curse, but in retrospect it has been a blessing beyond belief.
