Finding the One

Finding the One

People often tell me "I don't believe in fairytales!" Well, I still do. I have met my Prince Charming once - I am sure there's somebody out there who is the perfect fit for my unique family of 3. Plot Twist: today I am not talking about romantic Love (for once).

Today I am talking about finding help in the Mental Health Space!

I have worked with thousands of people over the years - and I was blessed to hear things like "You have helped me more in one day than my therapist hasn't been able to in 10 years!" Wow, this blew me away... And only yesterday I interviewed a lady who told me about a therapist that was so ill equipped to be handling her PTSD after her father died in rather horrible circumstances.

My message here today is "Find the One! Even if others tell you it's a fairytale." The perfect person for you does exist. If you don't feel right with a counsellor, therapist, psychiatrist - whoever you were seeking help from - trust that!

So often we think "they are the authority, they should know" and ignore our own intuition, that tells us otherwise. I have learned to always trust my intuition over titles. I am not impressed by titles anymore. My dad had a whole list of them - he never used them - he always said "My name is enough!" People adored him, they instantly trusted him - and that's what I remember about him, not his titles!

I believe "Finding the One" is a lesson in "Learning to Trust your Intuition!"

That simple. Not always easy, but your lesson starts now.

Start with little things.

Feel it first. Listen to your inner voice. Then watch the outcome - and note where you were spot on with your intuition!

After my husband had died, I needed to learn to trust my intuition more than ever - she became my new guide, the voice to lean on, when I had lost the person I trusted the most. Now it was time to learn to trust myself; in every big or small decision:

When I needed to find a positive psychologist to help me through my grief: I had one person in mind - her capacity for new clients was filled, yet I trusted my intuition, told her my story, shared why it had to be her - and she gave me one of her emergency spots. We worked together for 4 months, it was life-changing - she was the one person I trusted with my healing, in a professional sense - and she did not disappoint!

When my older son wanted to change schools half way through year 6, due to a teacher that had made his life miserable in a time where he needed more emotional support than ever. What followed was a rather long and sleepless night - and I knew he had to move. I trusted my intuition - it turned out to be the best decision ever for him! The new school built his confidence, made him new friends that are still in his life now, and most importantly: made him happy!

When I decided to take a trip around the world with the boys. I knew I had to take them away from all the first milestones to come without their dad. I wanted to create new and happy memories for them - it was the best decision in our early days of healing - we still talk about this trip now.

When I started the movement "Loving Life after Loss", and archived it 5 years later. I have taken around 5,000 people onto their healing path - and I knew when it was time for me to let go, and follow my intuition once again.

Sometimes following your intuition can turn into complete surrender.

Yet when you learn to listen to your inner wisdom, you also know how to let go, and lean in.

Today's LinkedIn Love Letter is aimed at being a reminder of your own intuition.

Lean in, listen, and trust.

With Love

I love intuition - it rarely leads you astray although it can often seem like it at times. The problem with relying on expertise of others is that we aren't experts and don't understand the nuances. We don't the questions to ask to determine competence or whether we are getting the full answer. What we are capable of is Character assessment - we do it all day, every day when we first meet people. We intuitively size them up and make snap judgement as to whether they resonate. That resonance is backed up by science. We are all pure energy that vibrates at individual frequencies. Where those frequencies match, like any wave, the result is amplified and we connect. Go with your gut feeling and don't over think it.

I’m intrigued. If you’re not talking about romantic love, what are you talking about?
