Finding "the one"?....

Finding "the one"....

When I set up my business, it was apparent to me that I should stick with what I know, working with legal professionals. Formatting, presenting and the terminology of the legal world comes as second nature to me, using the “tramlines” on court documentation I don’t even think about and italicising certain references too, also standard for me.

But recently, I have seen others in my position offering to work and support Solicitors and Barristers with no previous experience or knowledge within the legal industry.

It makes no sense, why get a plumber to do an electricians work?

All Virtual Assistant’s have their own expertise which they excel in, mine is the legal stuff.

I just hope that any legal professional using someone without a certain level of experience has the time to train them in everything I already know. Surely this defeats the purpose?!

Choosing the ‘right’ VA is imperative, as we’re a team member, a ‘right’ hand man so to speak. Talk to them, meet them if you can or have a skype so you can get a better idea of how they tackle their work or meet deadlines. Please just don’t select a VA as they were the first one you have come across or because they were the cheapest. Like most things in life, pay peanuts and you end up having monkeys do the work.

Communication is key regardless of the work being provided on a remote basis.

Just a few pointers and my thoughts on choosing a VA!

Feel free to comment or message me.

Interesting article Abigail. I personally think that VA's can add a huge wealth of experience and even more support to over worked solicitors. Its a shame that most solicitors do not "do the math" and realise just how very cost effective you guys can be. I have outsourced for years and years now and it has always helped me to drive down costs and increase productivity. Shak Inayat

You are so right Abigail. So many people think all VAs are the same - but like saying all restaurants are the same! ????
