Finding Noah: A Journey of Love, Loss, and the Family Meant to Be
By Parham Zar, Managing Director Egg Donor & Surrogacy Institute (EDSI)
Parenthood isn’t always a straight path. For Sarah and David, the journey to their son, Noah, was anything but easy.
When I first met them, they had already been through years of heartbreak—IVF cycles that didn’t work, sleepless nights spent asking “Why us?”, and the heavy weight of letting go of the dream they’d once imagined.
When they decided to pursue egg donation, they arrived with both hope and hesitation. Sarah wondered if the baby would still feel like hers. David quietly held her hand, reminding her that parenthood is about love, not biology. Together, we began the search for their egg donor—a process that’s both intimate and transformative.
When they found her—a young artist with a warm smile—they knew she was the one. Months later, when Sarah called me in tears of joy to tell me she was pregnant, I felt the weight of their journey lift, replaced by the light of hope.
Noah arrived on a crisp autumn morning, and when I saw them at the hospital, I knew their family was finally complete. Years later, Sarah sent me a photo of Noah painting, just like his donor had once loved to do. She wrote, “He loves art, just like her. But his heart? That’s all ours.”
This is why I do what I do. Helping people like Sarah and David create the families they’ve dreamed of reminds me every day of the resilience of the human spirit and the incredible power of love.
If you’re on your own journey to parenthood, or helping others find theirs, know this: it’s not about how you start. It’s about where love takes you.
