Good Morning... I wanted to share a struggle that I am hearing from candidates in regards to their job search. The common theme is they have applied to over 50 positions, or more in some cases, and they do not get one call back. Candidates are frustrated, they are drained and feel like they are not valued when this happens. There are a couple of things that you can do however finding a great job is as much "work" as you want to put into it. If you are feeling devalued it's not the fault of the employer it's something you are doing that needs to be changed. If you really care about what your next career looks like then please read on. You reap what you sow. It's easy hitting the "Send" button in hopes a company's ATS (Applicant Tracking System) will find you fascinating and qualified however it is a great way to set youself up for disappointment. A computer doesn't relay the message to HR that your a fantastic candidate with energy and personality! Reaching out via phone or walking into the place of business is going to feel scary for most people however it is going to be much more effective. Persistence and consistency is key. I also hear people complaining that company's don't get back to them after applying. If you are applying for a job that you have no experience, especially recent experience then you will find this will continue to happen. It's as frustrating for companies to receive hundreds of resumes from people that are just hitting the "send" button. Sending out 50 resumes to jobs you don't qualify vs sending 5 resumes that you do is going to be in your best interest and set you up for success much faster. Sending out numerous resumes without getting a response should be telling you that you need to change your strategy. If you are working and you want to remain anonymous please reach out to me. I can do the leg work for you as well. My relationships with companies run deep. Finding a great job most times doesn't happen over night. It's about timing. It's about reaching out in creative ways and doing something others are not doing. This will land you a job you love not just something you settle for. If you have more questions please reach out to me and let's talk. Make it a great day!
