Well, that feeling was coming over me several times this past year and came into focus when I was writing Unlock Your Leadership Story. In this book, I introduce life and leadership lessons through fables and folktales. One such tale is about the ???????????????? ?????? ?????? ????????. In my take on this fable, the Tortoise reminded me once again to live by my own scorecard. To be clear about living a life aligned with my values and goals. I knew what they were…but I was not living up to my scorecard the way I wanted to.
But today I am!
With that renewed clarity from my scorecard, I made the tough decision to leave UKG and recently joined Intuitive as their Chief Human Resources Officer. On one hand, that decision was hard – as I’m so grateful for all that I learned and the people I was lucky to work with – but on the other hand, it was an easy decision. My scorecard was the compass that guided me in my decision.
For me, family has always been my priority on my scorecard. My personal goal was to spend time with my two new grandbabies, my children, and my husband – being with them for those moments that matter – both large and small. I was not living up to that goal. My role at UKG required me to travel far away from my family on a regular basis – leaving me off-balanced. That feeling of being “off” – only increased when my grandbabies were born while I was at UKG.

Taking a hard look at my scorecard, I decided to “fix” what was not balanced. That “fix” put me on a quest back to California to be closer to my family. But I also wanted to continue to pursue my personal purpose: to leave the world better than I found it. My role in HR helps me fulfill that purpose – but what if I was able to do more?
Considering those goals – it was easy to choose my next adventure with Intuitive . Intuitive Is an amazing purpose-driven med-tech company – focusing on the patient – always. Haven’t heard of them? They’re a global technology leader in minimally invasive care and the pioneer of robotic-assisted surgery. At Intuitive, we believe that minimally invasive care is life-enhancing care. Through ingenuity and intelligent technology, we expand the potential of physicians to heal without constraints. As I’ve just started, what’s impressed me about the employees here is they all truly believe and work with this mission in mind. I experienced this firsthand as a patient of their da Vinci robot in 2019. That experience, my quality of care, and my recovery were nothing short of a miracle. With Intuitive, I can pursue my purpose at a whole new level.
So, if you feel off-balanced – reflect on your personal scorecard. Course correcting those life elements that will enable you to achieve your goals. I am forever grateful to have this compass in my life – to help guide me to live my best life professionally and personally!
? I’m excited to share more about building your own scorecard in my book launch soon on October 29 –www.wadors.com
