Finding and Learning From Your Career AHA Moment!

Finding and Learning From Your Career AHA Moment!

I often think fondly back to when I received a kick in the pants about taking ownership of my career. I was feeling not so good about how stagnant my career was and was expecting a reprieve from my boss. In a conversation, my non-verbal cues said it all, to which I received the following statement that forever changed my career and life.

Simone, your career is your responsibility.

Say what now? Come again!

Guess what? It turns out my boss was right. I needed to do more instead of expecting to be recognized for doing my job. And the fact of the matter was I needed to do more and show up as a full partner for exceptional results. As a career coach, I have learned much about what it takes to succeed in your career. I'm privileged to work with my clients to offer them a chance for happier career outcomes. For those who know me and my brand of coaching well, it's all about doing what it takes to move to the driver's seat in your career.

The thing is, I haven't stopped learning and growing, and that's a good perspective to take on. I've learned to become self-aware and to course-correct instead of going along to get along. I've learned to amplify my voice better and articulate my needs instead of just receiving what's offered to me. As a result, I now have a better plan for my career. I'm all in, and that's what you need to be -- all in on your career.

In the future, I want to share my career nuggets with you. I do so on my podcast,?The Power of Owning Your Career, and in my book,?52 Tips for Owning Your Career, and of course, there's also the book entitled,?The Power of Owning Your Career. I'm passionate about the topic and will continue encouraging others to get in the driver's seat and claim the career they deserve.

So, for today, let me leave you with this.

You wholeheartedly deserve to be the driver in your career. As the late Keith Harrell said, attitude is everything. Get your attitude and mindset in the right place to make career changes that make you leap out of bed each morning.

So, tell me, what's happening in your career? Are you in the driver's seat or passenger seat? Are you being proactive about your career results? Let me know what resonated with you in the comments area.

See you soon!
