Finding laughter in the madness #1

Once I've navigated past whatever field of flowers Oleg is posting right now, that dancing Australian woman, people who think they have better beards than I do and the endless stream of brain-numbingly boring humblebrags, I sometimes come across things that are funny.

This is a roundup of the best of those from the last few weeks.

If you think it's shit - which I'll judge by the lack of likes, comments and shares - it will also be my last. I'm a needy bastard if nothing else.

Feel free to let me know what you think, with your usual sparkling wit and intelligence. I'm also sarcastic.

A few words of caution. Some of this might not be your cup of tea. I do have a warped sense of humour, so what makes me laugh might make you cringe or recoil in sheer horror.

Generally, the posts that cause outrage are the ones that I favour - or dry (sarcastic/satirical) humour. If you don't get those, you're probably thick (studies have proven it).

If you're into bum jokes or impressions of minor celebrities, we're probably on a different wavelength, and in a different circle of friends. I'm a humour-snob, as well.

Anyhow, onwards - the following list is in no particular order, other than the funniest person is at the top and the best looking person is at the bottom.

  1. Dan Kelsall is absolutely smashing LinkedIn at the moment, his latest video of him and some colleagues reading out "Mean LinkedIn Comments" is hilarious. His 5 shitty office rules broke LinkedIn for a day.
  2. Danny McKillop and Tutti Recruitti keep up the good work of offending people with absolute ease. This post on candidate privacy - or lack thereof - has started producing the usual outraged comments, and the anger shown on his post about making candidates sing at interview is a joy to behold.
  3. Mike Winnet - everyone's favourite demotivational northerner - regularly ruffles all the right feathers. This one on worrying about what you've achieved was gold, as was this earlier post about why HR is wrong to advise not to ask candidates if they're planning to have kids.
  4. Shaun Hervey's post/video about LinkedIn "celebrities" made me laugh out loud. The fact a fair few people thought it was real was all the more hilarious. I can't be bothered to write anything else about it; his head is big enough as it is. Or is it?
  5. **NEW ADDITION** - Neil Simpson's post on "why you're doing networking AND LinkedIn wrongly" was full of useful advice. But it's the last line that made me spit my breakfast granola out, all over my annoying children. That's a lie, it was Frosties - and I'd have spat it at them anyway, it's part of my morning ritual.
  6. Me. I'm fecking hilarious.

Anyway, that's it. This one is short - because I'm easily distracted, and I have some real work to do.

If you've seen anything else that makes you laugh at loud, copy the link into the comments. If it's decent, I'll update this post with it. If I think it's crap, I'll tell you.

Finally, as I said earlier, if you want more - and if you'd like me to try harder next time - then please like and comment on this article. If you share it, I'll buy you a pony*.

If you want to have a chance of seeing the next one don't try to connect, instead follow me. I've maxed out my connections as I'm so popular. I'll follow you back. Possibly (probably not).

Cheers.

Alan

I'm avoiding cereals at the moment, I'll let you know what I find to throw at my children.

:D This post has the potential to set off a global synchronised spitting of Frosties onto children and other bystanders.
