In the simplicity of our Maharashtra village life, one thing always stood out to me: my mom's work as an Anganwadi teacher. Every morning, I'd watch her get ready, her face bright with excitement for the day ahead. She wasn't going to a fancy office or a big company. Instead, she was heading to a small room filled with young kids, armed with nothing but her patience and love for teaching.?Which is still same.
For over 35 years, my mom has been teaching young kids in the same role. She's had ?no promotions and tiny pay raises. I remember when she used to earn just Rs. 200 a month. But even now, after all these years, her eyes still light up with same enthusiasm when she talks about her work. In our daily conversations. ?What keeps her going? What makes her so happy in her job? I've been thinking about this a lot lately, especially when I look at how unhappy many people are at work today.
In my everyday life, I talk to all sorts of people - from the folks who help at home to big-shot company leaders. And I've noticed something odd. Even though many of us earn good money and have lots of chances to move up, we're often stressed out and unhappy. It's like we're all running in a race, but we don't know where the finish line is.
I hear it in the sighs of my friends we're all chasing after something ?but it seems like no matter how much we get, it's never enough. When I look at how my mom and others from her generation approach work, it's like seeing a different world. They have a special way of finding happiness in their jobs. For them, it's not about the money or getting ahead.?Every day is a new chance to do something good. ?What's amazing is how she keeps getting better at her job, like understanding technology and adapting to it. Every single day I see her WhatsApp status with her children. And it's not because someone told her to, but because she wants to help more and loves what she's doing.
The little things make her so happy - a child's smile or a small step forward is enough to make her whole day brighter. I can feel that happiness in our everyday conversations. And instead of trying to climb up some career ladder, she puts her heart into building real relationships with people. It's inspiring to see how our parents' generation finds so much joy and meaning in what many might see as simple work. Their approach reminds us that true satisfaction often comes from caring about others and finding purpose in our daily tasks, no matter how small they might seem.

So, how can we, the younger generation, find this kind of happiness at work? How do we stay excited about our jobs in a world that always wants more from us? Maybe the answer is not in wanting more, but in loving what we already have. It's about finding meaning in our daily work, making real connections with people, and being happy about small successes.
When I see how happy my mom is talking about her kids at the Anganwadi, it makes me think. Her eyes show she feels she's living a good life, doing something that matters. I can proudly say that I'm now trying to follow her path by bringing her spirit into my own work.
