JOB SEEKERS THIS ARTICLE IS FOR YOU!
If you want to find a job, the first thing you need to do is have the right and positive mindset.
If you keep saying to yourself “no company is gonna hire me” or “Of course I won’t get accepted to this position” or "I give up” then trust me, you’ll never get employed.
I know how much this process can be draining and time consuming however don’t over stress yourself about it, vent and take a break when needed. There are some things that we can’t control in life, and we just have to accept them.
For this reason, I recommend you work on the things that you can control such as:
1. Update and ensure that your professional profile is set and ready to be sent to companies. (CV, cover letter, LinkedIn profile, portfolio, sample emails…)
2. Put a plan and mentally prepare to fill out long online job applications, don’t rely only on the “Easy Apply” button because nothing worthwhile comes in easy after all.
3. Make sure you reach out to your connections and ask if they can help. Start with your family members, then proceed to friends, acquaintances, previous managers you worked with, online connections etc … This is very important! Note: It’s okay to contact and catch up with people you haven’t talked with for a long time, you never know how they might be the ones getting you employed!
4. Contact recruiters or recruitment agencies and keep on following up with them whenever they refer you to an open vacancy.
5. Don’t waste all your time on entertainment (Netflix, YouTube, Tiktok, video games…), instead try to invest in yourself in your free time by acquiring new skills, languages, research, certificates... It's essential to show the HR in job interviews that you're doing something beneficial instead of doing nothing at all!
I understand that the current economic situation and the spread of the pandemic aren’t helping much but if you double the effort, trust me you’ll eventually reach there! I am willing to help and guide anyone going through unemployment and further provide private consultations if needed, I'm only a message away! :)
Good luck to everyone applying and remember, finding a job is a job by itself!
