Finding Inspiration in Partnerships

One of the key characteristics of a leader who can articulate a clear vision and identify new ideas is the ability to consistently view things with a fresh perspective.
Throughout my professional experiences in academia, in government and in healthcare, I have benefitted from the input of so many acquaintances, partners and co-workers. Substantial debate and discussion and the cross-fertilization of ideas facilitates innovation and creativity.
When we exchange views with those whose experiences are broader and different than our own, it helps us grow, evolve and modify our opinions, and sometimes change our opinions. It’s the continuing process of education—a lifelong experience.
This is why it is so important to reach out, to embrace varying perspectives, to stimulate new partnerships and to promote compromise, something so sorely lacking in today’s politics. Solo thinking, grievance and an addiction to promoting conflict stifles intelligent discussion and prevents constructive progress. We have just witnessed such in Washington over the past few months.
Healthcare is constantly evolving, and we should be extremely proud of the dramatic advances over the last few decades. The successes have been extraordinary and we are all lucky beneficiaries. We are now on the threshold of a wonderful new opportunity. The advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and technology, the potential from the mapping of the human genome, and the evolving changes in modes of healthcare delivery provide the ability to dramatically advance overall health and improve access. How to intelligently optimize these opportunities is the challenge facing us all.

At Northwell, innovation is a core competency. We are constantly changing, including the use of AI to address health disparities, improve the wellbeing of expectant mothers, harness the vast amounts of data at our disposal, and help doctors and nurses make improved diagnoses. All of this potential can only be maximized if we partner with others: pharma, insurance carriers, patients and researchers. It can be a win-win for all.
We invite you to join us on Thursday, October 5 to see how partnerships in health care can drive innovation at Northwell Health’s Sixth Annual Constellation Forum. Once again, we will bring together an incredible group of leading healthcare executives, investors, philanthropists and entrepreneurs with the goal of forming strategic partnerships. Panel moderators include award-winning journalist Katie Couric and long-time health advocate and public health expert Chelsea Clinton . We hope you’ll join us and find it both informative and exciting to see how unique partnerships can lead to ideas about how we might use tools like AI in the future to expand access to patient care and improve how we deliver it.
Visit ConstellationForum.com to register to attend virtually on Thursday, October 5.

1 年Michael Dowling, I think you nailed it by calling out that we have “an addiction to promoting conflict” problem. I believe this is a root cause for some of the national and global problems that linger on. I envision ways AI might help us better understand and eliminate unproductive conflict - and to see that it doesn’t serve anyone. Best wishes for a successful Constellation Forum!
Such a powerful and inspiring post, Michael! We completely agree that embracing diverse perspectives is essential for progress in healthcare. Let's continue to foster open dialogue and collaboration to drive positive change.
