FINDING INSPIRATION
This weekend I was lucky enough to have a chance to visit the Tate Modern in London, an incredible modern art museum. The exhibits there are compelling, and the museum does a great job providing the story behind each installation, the artist’s motivation and inspiration. This is often rooted in frustration and the desire to make a statement, to make us think about the world around us in different ways.
It had been a long while since I had been to a modern art museum. Visiting a museum during a pandemic, even a large fairly open one with maskwearing required, wasn’t enticing. But I am glad I did - the exhibits filled me with hope, renewal, and inspiration, badly needed in these strange inhuman socially distanced times.
What I took from the museum was a strong sense of bold creativity; newfound ways to make my work, my life, and my world a better place. I wrote my ideas down, built plans around them, and breathed life into them, much as the works breathed life into me. Glorious and much welcome!
So with these thoughts of wonder I leave you with a challenge:
Find something that inspires you and breathe it in.
Let it fill you with hope, awe, and desire.
Do your best work to channel these feelings into creative action.
Connect with others and let it flow from you like a song, a symphony, a masterpiece.
What inspires you? Add it to the comments below and share the inspiration!

4 年Thanks for this, John! My inspiration comes from the natural world and gardening. It's amazing what you can see in a handful of snowflakes or a square inch of soil. Poetry is also high on the list :).
