Finding Hope

Hope can sometimes be hard to find and exactly what we need.

We live in a world with 24-hour news that is always popping up on our smart phones, computers, tablets and tv. If you have recently listened to any news, you could feel a lack of hope along with fear and anxiety and that's what is going on externally in the world. You might be having a hard time in your personal life.

Hope is a positive emotion; it boosts our happiness every time we feel hopeful and inspired.?

Hope boosts our motivation and helps us to take action and move forward with our goals and dreams, it gives us faith that we can get to the place of living our dream life.

It helps us to feel less depressed and to be more resilient to stress.

How can we feel more hopeful?

  1. Adding gratitude to your routine. Everyday write out 2 things you are grateful for that happened today.?
  2. At the end of the day ask yourself what 2 things you did well today and feel your accomplishment and pride rise.
  3. Random acts of kindness- every time we do an act of kindness, we get a boost of happiness, and it raises our self-esteem. The other great part about acts of kindness is when one is done for you, you feel inspired to do it for someone else. It's contagious and with kindness comes hope.
  4. Remind yourself of tough times you have been through and how you have survived, thrived and grown. When we see how far we have come, how brave and strong we are, we become aware of resiliency. Resiliency brings hope.
  5. Look for hope in friends, family, co-workers who have been through tough times, struggled and thrived. We can see hope in others.?
  6. Be the hope - give someone hope by problem solving, being supportive, giving solutions and sharing your success stories. We thrive with hope and just knowing that someone has struggled with the same situation makes us feel less alone and more hopeful.
  7. Remind yourself that everything is temporary. What you are dealing with now may be horrible, but it won't be like this next week, next month or next year.
