Ever wake up and feel, man what a grind! Every day I do the same thing over and over and yet I don’t see that I’m making any progress.
This is really common with Founders in startups. But they’re not alone. It can happen to anyone in any business, especially in tough markets or during difficult economic times.
The reason we feel like this is because
Ray Kroch, founder of McDonalds said,
The daily grind can feel like a heavy weight, but it's also a chance to build resilience and strength.
So let’s fix the two things that can make it difficult to keep pushing forward.
First, take your big goals and break them into smaller steps. Make each of these steps your process. A process builds habits, creates consistency, and helps remove fatigue because we know how long the race is that day.
Next, start a Success Journal. Every time you take a step forward or have a breakthrough, write it down and celebrate it. The act of writing it down will lift you up and feel good. Then, do something fun, and maybe spoil yourself a little.
By keeping track of your victories and giving yourself a pat on the back, you’ll be more encouraged to keep going.
So, here’s your Action Item and Mission, should you decide to accept it:
Feel like you’re swimming in mud? Try the two things I suggest.
They won’t take much time and you’ll be doing something good for yourself. When things do seem like they’re coming to a grinding halt, get out your Success Journal, review the wins you’ve had, and the progress you’ve made. You’ll have an instant attitude change.
We have to accept that the grind is unavoidable and part of success.
But grind we must if we are to get what we want and become who we want to be.
Your future self will thank you! ????
