When have you felt totally free?
For me, it's on stage. It started when I was a shy little girl. My shyness disappeared when I put on my dance costumes and dance shoes.
Once the music started, I came completely out of my shell. And I have to admit, the costumes were pretty cool. I still have a thing for sequins and sparkly outfits, btw.
Are you having fun?
Dancing was not only fun and a great form of expression but it was also healing. I'll spare you the details of my childhood but one of the reasons I was so involved with the arts after school was so I didn't have to go home. It was a great release.
One thing I do know is this: The arts are very therapeutic and can promote healing.
Rhythm has always been in me. Whether it was tap or jazz dancing or now playing drums and percussion, it just lights me up!
The same happens when I speak on stage. It's energizing and freeing. And it's a great way to use my gifts. I guess it also helps me release my inner ham. Who knew that she was even in there?
Lately, when I've been listening to instrumental music and spending time with God, I'm being reminded of that little girl. I think she got lost a bit this year. Maybe it's time to find her again.
Here's a video that may provide more encouragement if you, like me, need to shift gears or switch things up:
How about you?

4 个月For me it's about speaking about something I'm passionate about. My first experience was speaking at my dad's funeral. He was my biggest cheerleader and I felt it was my responsibility to speak for him since he left us unexpectedly. Although I was shaking like a leaf when I first started I just felt this waterfall of calm come over me and I got a lot of people coming up to me afterwards and saying they thought I was supposed to be a minister.
