Finding Evergreen vs Emerging Trends & Niche Potential

Finding Evergreen vs Emerging Trends & Niche Potential

I regularly use #GoogleTrends to identify emerging niches and understand market interests.

Recently, I experimented with comparing five popular search terms and uncovered some interesting insights!

Dive into this edition (Ed 13 of Growdent Newsletter) to learn how you can find your niche too.

Google Trends

First, I started with an evergreen topic: “Make money online”.

Consistently popular over the years!

Filters: "India" "2004 onwards"

Findings: Search volumes have decreased consistently after the peak in 2011-12.

Next, I tested another popular search item —"hair loss."

Filters: "India" "2004-present"

Surprisingly, “Hair loss” has more searches than “Make money online” in India!

But the current favorite, “Artificial Intelligence,” beats “Hair loss”

For many years, "AI" trended below "hair loss" but the numbers increased after 2018.

"Artificial Intelligence" searched on Google Trends India: 2004 - present

However, “Artificial Intelligence” hasn’t surpassed “Weight loss” – another evergreen!

Filters: "India" "2004 -present"

You can see how "weight loss" trends far above the previous 3 search items.

Now, the question is who beats "weight loss"

Surprise! Surprise!! It's "dental"

Dental always trended above weight loss —except for a few years in between.

After 2021 - "dental" has again surpassed "weight loss"
