LinkedIn is a crucial part of building your career right out of college, so why are so few college students starting with the basic step of building their online network? The transition from college to career can be a difficult one, and that’s usually because no one tells you that it starts as soon as you pick a college. Every step of the way you should be setting yourself up for your next move after college, including keeping your portfolio current and building your network, all of which and more can be done on LinkedIn.
Use LinkedIn to look up companies you might want to work for. Look at the people who work for those companies and ask them if it’s ok to make a connection. Research internship opportunities and ask people at the company you want to intern for if they know of any internship opportunities within that organization.
Create meaningful content on LinkedIn that showcases who you are and what you are capable of. Learn more about the transition from college to career below!
