Finding Customers On Social Media

Finding Customers On Social Media

2.2 billion. That's the number of active users on social media. It’s easy finding prospects on Social Media, but it’s really hard to convert them into customers. The opportunity to connect with your brand is real. Implement a smart strategy and in time you’ll watch those connections convert into sales [maybe]. The reason I say maybe is because businesspeople have to understand Social Media Marketing as a sales and growth tool will take time to deliver results. There are several steps to succeeding on Social Media with your product or service. First you need to find your audience. Then you need to create interesting content. Lastly, to sustain growth you need to have users engage with your company on a consistent basis.

I often compare the efforts it takes to succeed on Social Media to the efforts it takes to succeed on Email Marketing and SEO. Much of what you'll be doing in the beginning is about a Branding strategy rather than a Conversion or Sales driven strategy. You’ll rarely find 2 identical Social Media Marketing campaigns selling the same product to the same audience and having the same results. At my agency, Prediq Media, we’ve worked with hundreds of Home Improvement contractors over the past decade. For example, I’ve had 2 Window contractors in the same region who are targeting a similar audience. The strategy and content we create for them are completely different from each other. At the end of the day it’s the message that consumers hear and see that determines whether or not they’ll be compelled to go to your website or call the business.

Below are 4 factors that determine how long it will take to build you an audience, drive traffic to your website, generate leads and convert them into sales.

  1. Is your company B2C or B2B?
  2. How big is your Market or what's your Geo/location coverage?
  3. Are you a service-provider or selling products?
  4. What industry are you in?

Now that you know what questions to ask about your business it's time to conduct your research

1. Identify target audience (Analyze your current database or CRM, use FB audience & Google Adwords & Analytics)

2. Build a content strategy (hire a SEO Copywriter, determine what kind of images and videos you want to create, use #hashtags)

3. Decide what social networks are right for you (Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, etc)

4. Decide which of the thousands of tools you want to use (Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout, Social Drift, Ad Espresso, etc)

4. Launch organic & paid campaign (Adwords, Facebook, etc.)

5. Measure & Optimize (Google Analytics)

Whether you choose to market your company’s product or service on 1 Social Media network or on several you need to create a strategy that includes some of the points I mentioned above. Make sure that you have a clear understanding on the budget, timeline and who will be executing these campaigns on your team. 2.2 billion. That's the number of active users on social media.
