Each of us has our own unique way of finding focus at work. That perfect setting for achieving maximum productivity and creativity.
For some, it's total silence. Others are inspired by background chatter and the whir of the espresso machine at their favourite cafe. But music is also a powerful tool for helping you get in flow.
And it's not just a feeling. Numerous research studies have proven the ability of sound to influence our thought patterns, brain waves and mood. Binaural beats in particular have receive heightened attention recently for their ability to shift thought speed and intensity - though you'll only reap the full benefit wearing headphones, which isn't always practical.
So what do people listen to when they want to tune out the world and get things done? Or when they find themselves in a funk and need to inject some energy?
I put the question out to my LinkedIn network recently, and these were the 14 songs that received most votes.
What's your favourite song for regaining energy, or finding focus? Share it in the comments!

6 年Couldn't agree more with you Megan, and others also. Personally I breath, taste and hear my music (all types but particularly classical). I seem to have got used to having it on, and to alternate the creative and logical world seamlessly. At times, I feel the need for the 'switch' but do not force it, intuitively my ears ask me to do it.? I do quite often listen to my music for a self-indulging 14-16 hours daily while writing essays, papers or even doing a precise and finicky Excel, and I hardly ever get mentally tired of what I do! In the contrary I feel it reenergises me, better than medicine or therapy. Namaste.

6 年Strangely I get too distracted with music!! My mind goes to the song instead of what I’m trying to write!
I activate men who’ve ‘made it’...but still feel the void | We burn the rules, unlock their genius, and build a life they wouldn’t trade for anything
6 年Great to see my song there...boom!
