Finding Calm Within The Chaos of the Holidays
The ongoing pressure to make the holidays perfect can really stress your overall health and well-being. The exact opposite of what the season represents. While the holidays are synonymous with festivities, family, & food–stress is inevitable to anyone that is blessed to have people in their lives they care about. It just has a way of sneaking into our celebrations, doesn’t it? Family gatherings, shopping excursions or preparing for guests can all take a toll on our mental health, but balancing your stress levels is key to avoiding hustle & bustle burnout. According to a new poll from the American Psychiatric Association (APA), 31% of Americans anticipate being more stressed this holiday season than last year. Just know you’re not alone. Here’s a recipe on how to avoid stress during the holiday rush:?
1. Set Intentions: Focus on what & who truly matters to you. Try to minimize the rest.
2. Practice Gratitude: Reflect on the positive aspects of your life. You are blessed to be busy!
3. Inhale & Exhale: Practice mindful breathing to stay centered & calm. Even if it’s in your car at the mall.
4. Put Down Your Phone: As hard as it is, try to be present in your interactions.

5. Go Outside: Practice mindfulness in nature. You can find small pockets of time, even if it's a crisp winter night.?
6. Give to Others: Transform gift-giving into a meaningful experience. Think of experiences you can enjoy with that person later in the year rather than just a material object.?
7. Accept Imperfection: Give yourself permission to be “good enough.”
8. Look To The Experts: Look for instructors or programs in your area to provide guidance or support.?
