Finding Balance and Fulfillment

Finding Balance and Fulfillment

Today, in the Northern Hemisphere, we celebrate the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year and the first day of summer.

In the darker days of winter, we are more inwards focused. Then with spring, we start to stretch outwards. And, at the Summer Solstice, we are fully awake. Our spirits are alive, refreshed, renewed and energised.

And yet because of life challenges, demanding jobs and families, conflicting priorities etc, our internal experience might not always match the energy of this season.

So the Summer Solstice provides a good opportunity to pause and reflect on the past six months - a time to acknowledge personal growth, achievements, and contentment in various aspects of our lives. And then to use those insights to continue doing what is working and to change what is not.

I find the Wheel of Life (WoL) to be a valuable tool to aid in this reflection, offering a visual representation of balance and fulfilment across different areas of life. The WoL is divided into eight categories such as career, finances, health, relationships, personal development, family, and leisure. By assessing yourselves and plotting your positions on the WoL, you can identify the areas in which you are thriving and those that require attention. This self-reflection can then guide you to take meaningful actions should you choose to do so.

If you feel that a mid-year life review would support you in your current journey, I invite you to use the linked document below. It includes the Wheel of Life, along with instructions and reflective questions designed to support your self-reflection.
