Find Your "Why"

Reflecting on my first year leading our global DEI strategy at Airship , I am grateful and inspired by our work to build a people-centered culture with respect for all. Taking stock of our collective accomplishments and opportunities is vital as I observe how we remain resolute in ensuring we continue to inspire a Culture of Inclusion and Respect, coined COIR, as today marks the start of Black History Month.?

Always been curious throughout my life experience, and you won’t be surprised to see that my career journey has never been linear.? A proud #HBCU alum who went from studying accounting, then Cybersecurity, and eventually Human Capital Management with most of my work experience in Management Consulting and now, in the driver's seat in one of the most demanding but pivotal roles of our time in an ever-evolving industry.? I continue to learn that giving grace to others and myself is essential for being grounded and making strides in this uncertain season.

Our work is centered on three key areas, our Talent, Workforce Culture, and Community Impact. Here are some of our accomplishments thus far:

  • We launched Airship Cares, our intranet page of care and guidance.?
  • Launched the first company-wide Behaviors of Inclusion Training for all staff
  • Implemented new ATS to enhance inclusive recruiting and hiring practices at Airship
  • Created a supplier diversity questionnaire as part of our RFP process to encourage the use of minority-owned businesses as suppliers
  • Hired two incredible interns last summer by partnering with The Script , a Portland-based organization, to support their internship opportunities empowering students from historically marginalized groups
  • Co-Launched NOW + NEXT Initiative with other partner companies in the tech industry. To inspire young women through comprehending possibilities, providing connections, and gaining experience in data, design, and technology.
  • Our ERG(s) hosted various celebration opportunities to recognize Heritage events.

Our wins are the collective effort of our staff, ERGs, People Ops, and several stakeholders and Allies, including our SLT and ELT.?

The African Proverb by Martha Goedert says - If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together, so Collaborate and invite others to be a part of your work this year.?
