Find Your Why

Find Your Why

“Those who have a ‘why’ to live, can bear with almost any ‘how’.”
-Viktor Frankl

A common theme I’ve noticed amongst guests on my podcast, On Our PRST, is the hard work, sacrifice, and commitment of pursuing their passion doesn’t FEEL like hard work, sacrifice, or a commitment.?

Many of the guests have defined their “passion” as something they would do for free–it’s something they enjoy so much that they would do it even if they couldn’t earn money from it. Thankfully, and to no surprise, they have all been able to grow their passion into a source of income–not all see their passion become their main source of providing for themselves and their families…this is important to mention.

When you are doing something you enjoy so much you’d do it for free, the time, energy, and effort you put into it doesn’t feel the same as the time, energy, and effort you put into the things you don’t enjoy doing.

An hour spent on your passion is not the same as an hour spent on a chore, task, or maybe even your job.

Your passion has a meaningful “why”--it’s something you love, something that brings enjoyment, something you find a sense of purpose in. As Viktor Frankl notes, if you have a “why” you are able to put up with the “how”.

This is why pursuing your passion, or even developing it where you already are, is so important.?

When passion is involved in what do, you are able to give more, work harder, and be better because it doesn’t feel like work. You will be happier, more productive, and more fulfilled the more time you spend in your passions.

A life filled with only passion is probably not realistic…there will always be certain things you have to do that you won’t enjoy. Make it a goal to minimize your time spent away from your passion so the majority of your time is spent with the people who make you the happiest, doing the things you enjoy the most, and being the best version of your Self for the world.

Let your passions help you find your why.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC

It's wild how true this is. If a boss asked me to take 30 minutes out of my weekend to do something, I'd be livid. But I'll happily spend hours working on my business on a Sunday afternoon. ??
