Find Your Way Back
"We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality." Hebrews 4:15 MSG
Whenever an event or a series of events move us out of our regular rhythm and schedule, we encourage ourselves by saying, "life happens". Is this statement valid or is it just something we say to justify why we could not push ourselves to still do what needed to be done? I'm yet to find an answer to this. But one fact is certain - sometimes we lose control over what we thought we had a grip on.
In many seasons of my life, once work got stressful, or uncontrollable events took hold of my mornings, whatever I was consistent in stopped. But the disappointing effect of this is I don't go back. Eventually, after that season passes, I try to rev myself up again.?
For example, I have mentioned before that I restarted this newsletter three times. The only reason for this is once I miss a couple of days, I would enter my shell, let the negative thoughts roam free in my mind and leave everything. I wish someone had told me this wasn't the way to go.
Christ was one very consistent young man while on earth. But the focus scripture says He also understands what it means for reality to hit us. There were times He wanted to separate himself into his quiet place, but people would come requesting to be healed. He'd then adjust, heal them, and afterwards go His way. His separation didn't happen at the time He wanted, but He still did it regardless.
What this tells me is that there's reality and there's the reaction to reality. Reality is not under my control. I can influence some parts, but the rest may not bend to my will as I desire. However, my reaction is under my control and eventually creates a new reality. This doesn't make me powerless but powerful in fact.?
We can always find our way back and pick up where we left off.?
Today's Task: What good thing have you stopped doing because reality hit you hard? Decide today to revisit it.
