Find Your Voice: Tuning Out the Noise and Listening Within

In a world that often bombards us with opinions, expectations, and judgments, the loudest voice we hear is rarely our own. We listen to the expectations of family, friends, colleagues, and the society at large, trying to make everyone else comfortable and satisfied. But what about our own inner voice? The one that knows our deepest dreams, desires, and truths?
For too many women, that voice is a faint whisper beneath the noise. We’ve been conditioned to second-guess, silence ourselves, or adjust our words to fit what others expect of us. I want you to realize this: our voice is powerful. And when we tune out the noise of others, we can finally hear our own inner knowing loud and clear.
Why Tuning In Matters
The moment you start listening to yourself is the moment your life begins to shift. This inner voice isn’t just a set of thoughts; it’s an anchor to your authentic self, an unwavering guide that knows you better than anyone else ever could. When we listen to this voice, we’re empowered to make decisions, set boundaries, and take steps that align with who we truly are—not who the world wants us to be.
When I work with clients, one of the first things I ask them is: What do you want? Not what others want for you, but what do you want? This can be a tough question to answer when you’ve spent years trying to be “good enough” for everyone else. Yet, it’s a powerful step towards reclaiming your sense of self and finding your true voice.
Drown Out the Noise: 3 Ways to Tap Into Your Inner Voice
1. Create Moments of Stillness
Find small pockets of quiet in your day, even if it’s just a few minutes in the morning or before bed. In these moments, tune into your thoughts and feelings. Journaling can also be a powerful way to access your inner voice. Write down your desires, concerns, or questions—without editing yourself. This simple practice allows your inner voice to become louder and clearer over time.
2. Question the Source
When you feel the pressure to meet others’ expectations, pause and ask yourself: Whose voice is this? Is it a friend, a parent, society, or maybe an old belief you’ve carried with you for years? By recognizing the source of this external noise, you create space for your true voice to emerge.

3. Speak Your Truth, One Step at a Time
Reclaiming your voice is about more than just speaking up in big moments. It’s about honoring what’s true for you in everyday interactions. Set boundaries where needed, express your feelings openly, and let yourself say “no” when something doesn’t align with your values. Every time you do this, your voice becomes stronger, clearer, and undeniably yours.
The Power of Trusting Yourself
When you trust your voice, it becomes easier to take bold steps and make choices that feel right—even if they don’t always look “right” to others. And what’s amazing is that the more you honor your voice, the more aligned your life becomes. Your relationships grow stronger because they’re based on authenticity. Your work feels more meaningful because it reflects who you are. And ultimately, your self-worth blossoms because you’re no longer looking outside for validation—you’re finding it within.
Moving Forward
As you read this, I invite you to ask yourself: Am I truly listening to myself, or am I letting the voices of others lead my life? It’s never too late to make a change. You have the power to turn down the volume on the outside world and tune into the voice that knows you best—your own.
So, as you move through your day, let your voice be the one that guides you. Trust that it’s enough, that you are enough. Because no one else can speak your truth for you. Only you can.
