Find Your True Self
Why am I feeling this way? What will happen to those I love? When will things be normal again? Have you had these thoughts in the last few months? I have.
When India went into a "lockdown" in March this year, the world around me began getting more and more "real" for me & here is how I tackle it everyday.
Studies say that, human minds are designed to face problems everyday & come up with solutions constantly. In a given day, an average humans has 6,000 thoughts (approx). Woah! that is indeed too many!
Humans just keep tackling problems all day, everyday. Children, Aging in-laws, Aging Parents or Grand parents or Financial concerns, we always tend to see problems everywhere & in that instance, train our minds to be negative all the time.
When I saw the pattern of these thoughts, I had to first ensure that I clean my mind first. Trust me, cleaning the clutter your mind is the first step to building yourself to be strong & brave.
- Learn to live and not "stay" in your own life: You are in this world for a reason so why not make it a great place to live in. Make a difference to someone's life & be there for that person/them. Do things you love, speak to the people you admire & inspire you, adopt that puppy or kitten & see how you can make a difference. Your place in your own life is to live it and not just stay in it.
- When feeling anxious, breathe: Every human being around you feels anxiety & fear, its natural. But when you do know that the situation at hand is out of your own control, let it go & breathe! Watch or read something that can makes you laugh. Studies say that laughter alleviates anxiety to a large extent.
- Talk to people: I can live alone. I can manage things by myself is all a myth. Network & branch out to people even if it means a hi and a hello. You never know whom you may end up helping and in turn helping yourself.
- Take time for yourself: Time will never stop, so during weekends, take sometime for yourself to do something you love like read, watch a move or series or go a jog or a run. Anything that makes you feel happy & rejuvenated, is something you should definitely do.
- Gratitude & Kindness: The biggest ask in today's world, is to constantly give gratitude & be kind. You do not have to please everyone around you but that does not mean that we need to be hurtful. Treat the world around you, the way you want to be treated as it all comes back to us.
Learning is constant as long as you know that it is an investment for yourself. So make an investment on yourself, trust me the interest gained will make your heart happy!
