Find Work ?? That Feels Like Play ??

Find Work ?? That Feels Like Play ??

Hi friends!

Have you ever had that feeling of dread as you wake up in the morning and think about all the things you have to do for work? I've definitely experienced that.

However, when I think of my side hustle (which is content creation) - it's a completely different feeling! I'd usually be really excited to wake up early to get things done, or I'd just be happy to finish up a project for a client.

Last week, I moderated a session at work called 'Meet The TikToker' where met with Charlene Chew, a burns survivor. She shared her story of grit and growth with us, but also chatted about her content creation journey.

For the first time in forever - that chat made me feel so alive.

It was really comforting chatting to a fellow content creator about content creation. Perhaps because it was something I was incredibly passionate about, but it was also great to connect with someone who understands what kind of challenges I faced as a content creator. I was also able to add value to the conversation - which was somewhat of a pleasant surprise to myself, because I didn't realize that I had accumulated so much knowledge in this space!

I also attended a LinkedIn event and met a few folks who shared that they enjoyed my content and wanted to collaborate on more opportunities.

All these moments were just so affirming for myself because I was finally able to see some traction from the work I loved doing. There was really no other way to describe it, even though I was exhausted - I also felt incredibly happy, lucky and alive.

Some takeaways I had from this week:

1) Strive to work on something you love ??

Find work that keeps you excited and that makes you feel ALIVE. If you don't know what it is yet, continue to look for it. I promise, it'll keep you going, especially once you see some traction and results.

2) Dedicate the first hour of your workday to yourself ??????

Work on something personal - whether it be exercising, writing, reading, meditating (whatever you want to work on!). Do it while you your brain and willpower are still 'fresh'. Be selfish, and work on your own stuff, before investing into 'other work'.

3) Wake up earlier ?

It's quiet and you just get more things done. Sometimes I finish my content creation by 9.00am - and am shocked at how much I had managed to accomplish in just 2 quiet hours. Of course, when you do this, make sure you have enough discipline to hit the sack earlier the night before!

4) It's all about balance ??

Learn how to balance your full time job and your side hustle. Plan and prioritise accordingly. Always give your best, especially when you're at work because your reputation is still at stake.

5) Rest when needed ??

Rest is incredibly important to recharge yourself physically and mentally. So take a day off to rest, and don't feel guilty about it - because we can't be productive without proper rest!

6) You gotta have FUN ??

Last week was SO fulfilling for me and one of the reasons was because I was having so much fun, and I didn't realize how happy that made me - and yes, it didn't feel like work at all.

As Naval Ravikant aptly put it :

'Find work that feels like play'

and I truly believe money and happiness will follow.

Till next month!
