Find a Speaker for International Day of People With Disability 2024

Held every year on December 3, International Day of People with Disability is a great chance to celebrate the contribution people with disabilities make as well as the ongoing challenges they face.?Take positive, proactive action by raising awareness and cultivating understanding by inviting a speaker with lived experience of disability. Below are a few of the wonderful speakers you can find on the ICMI roster to invite along to your business, organisation, school or community event.?

Dr Dinesh Palipana OAM

Award winning doctor, disability advocate, researcher, lawyer and co-founder of Doctors with Disabilities Australia, Dr Dinesh Palipana i s a truly remarkable individual. After a life changing accident that left him quadriplegic, he persevered, going on to graduate medical school, building a career as doctor and becoming a passionate advocate for inclusion.


Rhiannon Tracey

After being told she’d never walk again after a sudden diving accident left her quadriplegic at the age of 20, Rhiannon Tracey has worked tirelessly to raise awareness around spinal cord injuries, founding not-for-profit organisation The Next Step and opening The Next Step Spinal Cord Injury Recovery Centre on top of speaking publicly about her experiences.


Ben Popham OAM

Diagnosed with cerebral palsy as an infant, Ben Popham went on to become a high achieving Paralympic swimmer, bringing home 2 golds and 1 silver medal at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo at the age of 19. On the speaking circuit, he talks about the importance of inclusion, goal setting and overcoming challenges.


Alexandra Hudson

Laugh and learn with comedian and disability advocate Alexandra Hudson , who cleverly muses about the quirks of living in a non-disabled world from a disabled perspective. It’s a unique approach that is equal parts entertaining and thought provoking, making her a popular and refreshing source of insight.


Dylan Alcott AO

Superstar tennis champ, Paralympian and former Australian of the Year, Dylan Alcott is renowned for his striking personality, tennis skills and passionate advocacy for young people coming to terms with their disability. An incredible public speaker who shares his story candidly, Dylan is always in high demand for his funny, inspiring and thought provoking presentations.


Tilly Lockey

After losing her hands to Meningococcal Septicaemia Strain B when 15 months old, Tilly Lockey commenced on an incredible journey to become a real-life bionic girl, crafting functional, state-of-the-art bionic arms with Open Bionics. Future focused and passionate about boundless possibilities, Tilly is an inspirational advocate for improving prosthetics through technology.?


Kurt Fearnley AO

Born without the lower portion of his spine, Kurt Fearnley went on to become one? of Australia’s most successful marathon athletes with 3 Paralympic gold medals. He’s also crawled along the Great Wall of China and the Kokoda Trail and participated as a winning crew member of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. Passionate about uplifting others, he is an incredible storyteller with presentations that are moving and inspirational.?


Katrina Webb OAM

Diagnosed with cerebral palsy when she was two years old, Katrina Webb is a triple gold medal winning Paralympian who is an advocate for overcoming challenges and igniting human potential. She also focuses on diversity and inclusion from the standpoint of hidden disabilities, sharing unique and valuable insights every time.
