Finding Place in a Small Rural Town in Ohio
So, it is evengings like this that are the reason one Loves Place, I was reading and got a text from Brenda, my oldest daughter, who has taken a strong line on her health over the last 12-18 months. She has also started running. At around 6:00PM I got the below text exchange.
Brenda: Feeling up to a 3mile hike?
Eric Brown: When/Where? From the parking lot across from my campground to OldField and around the beach is 3-Miles
Brenda: Perfect- I’ll be there about 7ish?
Eric Brown: Confirmed, See you shortly That gives me a minute to consume some caffeine lol
Brenda: I’m 1.3 miles away on foot
Eric Brown: OK, I will suit up and get up there!
Well, on the walk up to the bike path, just a short distance from my campsite, it started raining, just a little. By the time we met, it was raining harder, but not crazy. We headed toward Lakeview Harbor, yammering away,......and about halfway there it was pouring cats and dogs, LoL, We trudged along to the shelter at the harbor, and found some reprieve on the east side of the building, until the wind shifted. Holder (Brenda's Hubby) came and picked us up. He didn't seem impressed with our choices, LoL. We were soaking wet.
My point of recording this is, that type of encounter is the draw. Priceless really, those spur of the moment things, I could have declined the offer, or not. Who knew it would rain like that, we did it anyway. It created a memory. In fact it brought up a past encounter, A few years ago, Brenda came to MI to stay for a couple days, and it was raining like mad, but we pursued the City anyway and had a blast, but moreover it creates memories.
Part of what makes this cohesive is I live within walking distance to one daughter (a long walk, but an easy bike ride) and a short scooter ride from my other daughter. Impromptu encounters are effortless, we are all within a stones throw. Most of the encounters are not really planned, which adds to the richness. It has made for a splendid summer, and I am liking the SimpleLife in this Small Rural Town,............
