Proposed measures in the new Gambling Regulation Bill will have an impact on charity fundraising

The Gambling Regulation Bill 2022 is currently going through the legislative process and will introduce further regulatory oversight and marketing restrictions, which could have a significant and negative impact on the ability of charities to fundraise through raffles and lotteries.

Cian Clinch, partner with?Hayes Solicitors?will give us an overview of the Gaming and Lotteries (Amendment) Act 2019, which came into force in December 2020, and the provisions with which charities must comply.

Would you like to join Cii's Policy and Research Committee?

Cii advocates on issues that matter to our members, acting as the voice of the professional charity sector.?

We are establishing a Policy and Research Committee so members can contribute directly to our policy work and help us design our research projects.?

The committee will help frame and develop -

  • Policy positions on topics like regulation, funding, governance and legislation.??
  • Annual Budget Submissions and election campaigns
  • Research topics and partnerships to recommend to the Board

This is a?call to action?for people with?policy, communications or research experience?to join our Committee to help shape our advocacy campaigns on behalf of members. We hope to hold our first meeting in September.

Uncharitable is a movie about liberating the nonprofit sector to pursue its true power to create change.

Based on the book and widely viewed TED Talk by Dan Pallotta, the film hopes to change how we view charity and create a movement to empower and scale our nonprofit sector so that it may one day solve the world’s biggest and most persistent problems.
