Find More Readers & Sell More Books #4

It's Tuesday again already! I'm constantly getting the question: How do I find more readers and sell more books, Honorée?

Last week I asked you to figure out where the book fits into your overall business. This week, I'm going to help you take your answer and include it in the contents of all 3 main sections of your book: front matter, main content, back matter.

But first, allow me to debunk a common myth: you don't make money from your book. It's just there, making you the authority. WHOA. Them's fightin' words!

New Flash/Myth-Buster: You can make money from publishing a book.

Coming and going (yes, really!). You can earn book royalties, as well as more income from retail sales for your book in every possible format (ebook, paperback, hardcover, audiobook), and from using your book to generate new clients. Dare I say faster and easier than every before? Yes, yes, I do. (Also, there are dozens of ways to re-purpose the content in your book, combined with your additional expertise, experience, and education. I've created 14 of them myself and I share about them in detail here.)

Now, here are 3 ways to include your marketing in your book:

1. Include "front matter." Front matter includes your copyright page, TOC (table of contents), and Introduction. It can also include a way to get connected to readers. Add a page where readers can obtain value in exchange for their email address (so you can send them emails like this one). :)

2. Create awesome bonuses to include in the main content. Have you gotten the free bonuses that come with You MUST Write a Book? (If not, get them here.) I wanted to take the guesswork out of some of the processes and procedures I use when publishing a book for my readers, so I offer them as bonuses. You can, too.

3. Offer other opportunities to connect with you in the "back matter." Back matter consists of your bio, a list of your other books, and a few other key elements. Back matter is another opportunity you have to connect with your reader, this time in a deeper way than with front matter (because if a reader gets all the way to the end of the book, chances are they are ready for whatever you've got next)! Add in a page that shares about your speaking or coaching, or even another book they should read that you've written. The possibilities are endless!

It's gonna be a great week! Please let me know how your book is coming. I'd love to know!
