Find a mentor and be a mentor!
You’ll learn a great deal from both of these experiences.
Mentoring can help to build relationships between people from different backgrounds and experiences. This can lead to new friendships, professional opportunities, and a more connected community.
Ask your mentor for introductions, and introduce the person that you’re mentoring to others—both will increase your visibility in the industry.
Career mentors need not necessarily be from your own organization.
The way internet has democratized learning in this knowledge economy, there is no dearth of opportunities in finding the right mentor for you.
The best thing you can do as a protégé , is "to be the most deserving protégé for the mentor whom you are reaching out to!".
A Mentor- Protégé relation is always a two way street.
However, having a mentor within your company is particularly valuable.

She can identify opportunities for advancement you might overlook, guide you through challenging projects, and help you build relationships with higher-ups.
Most importantly, an influential mentor can earn you recommendations for special projects or teams that you might not have been considered for otherwise. They could help push you through major learning cycles early in your careers, which defines your overall career in the long run!
If you didn't have a mentor or a personal board of directors for your career, atleast you can be one for someone who could benefit from your experience and knowledge!.
Consider paying forward by being a mentor to someone and help them achieve their goals, and reach their potential!
