Kobe Bryant would have been 44 today. His legacy will live on as there was no one like him and will never be. I'm going to talk about 3 ways to Be Like Kobe and improve your life as well as the lives of the people in your community.
Be Your Unique Self
Society paints a picture of how you should be, your family and friends have opinions on what you should do, and then you have that voice in your head that you have to deal with every day. Kobe said
I don't want to be the next Michael Jordan, I only want to be Kobe Bryant." - Kobe
We are guilty of comparing ourselves to others or trying to be like someone else. It's 9:00 PM and you are sitting on your phone scrolling Instagram , seeing other people's stories chilling in Greece and thinking to yourself...why am I here? On LinkedIn , you are scrolling and seeing all of the people in your network getting offers for internships or full-time jobs, now you are thinking you are a failure. Everyone has those moments of self-doubt and feeling like a loser, even Kobe.
"We all have self-doubt. You don’t deny it, but you also don’t capitulate to it. You embrace it.” - Kobe Bryant
Let me tell you something though, YOU ARE NOT A LOSER! God gave you skills, talents, and experiences that are unique to you. Be proud of who you are, be vulnerable, and embrace your experiences and life 100%.
Why would you try to be like someone else when you have your own talents and purpose to fulfill? - Colton Kaplan
Take a moment right now, and get a pen and paper. Or if you are on your computer open up a google doc or word and create two sections. On the first section label it Personal: 1-3. On the second section label, it Work.
Close your eyes and imagine when you felt like you were unstoppable. When did you feel the most fulfilled and happy? When you are connecting with others? When you are diving deep into data? When you are reading or listening to a podcast?

Be Selfless
Kobe paid a $22,000 check and he was not even at the club. You can check out the full video here. He granted over 200 wishes for Make-A-Wish America by working with them for over 20 years. He took part to raise millions of dollars for Stand up for Cancer and many more organizations making a positive impact. Now since he has passed a non-profit was made in his and his daughter Gianna's honor. You can donate below.
You might think that you can't make a difference and there is a lot of negativity in the world today. That is exactly why you need to take action and do a small part today to make an impact. Whether it be donating your time, advice, money, or whatever you can offer will make a difference. Be like Kobe.
Commit and don't look back
“Dedication makes dreams come true.”
Don't be afraid to work hard. Achieving what you want takes a lot of dedication and growth. Challenge yourself every day. When you face a failure or rejection use that experience to learn something new to improve upon for the next time. If you give up you will never know what you could have become. Life is short, so start living the life you want today. Be grateful for every day you have and make a splash of YOU on this beautiful earth. Thank you, Kobe.
Rest in Peace Kobe and Happy Birthday!
