Our SheSays Amsterdam event, ‘A Lesson on Looking’, may have come and gone but we're still sharing tips on how to shift your self-perception and make it your superpower...
Self-esteem is a mysterious thing. Why do some of us have it and others don’t? Where does it come from? And why is it so important? How you feel about yourself affects how you perform in life – from your career to your relationships.
Whether you want that promotion, want more people to like you, or simply want to feel less stressed, having healthy self-esteem can help you prepare for any challenge. It can give you the perseverance to succeed; the trick is to think of it as a muscle. Want it to grow stronger? Train it!
So roll up your sleeves and dive into our ‘looking’ exercises. Use them every day to enhance your self-perception.
Let’s face it, we are our own worst critics. More often than not, we’d never say to someone else the criticism we aim at ourselves. It’s time to cut ourselves some slack. Try being more mindful of situations where you’re being hard on yourself. Stop and consider what you would say to your best friend in the same situation. Be encouraging. Say that to yourself instead. After all, you deserve the same support and respect that you give your loved ones.
